Variegated Stretch Cotton Suiting - Gunmetal

A deadstock cotton/poly stripe in dark gunmetal grey. This midweight fabric has been woven in a Bedford cord construction, named after the town of New Bedford, Massachusetts, a famous 19th century textile manufacturing city, is a durable fabric that resembles corduroy. The weave has faint lengthwise ridges, but without the filling yarns that make the distinct velvet-like wales characteristic of corduroy. It has the appearance of narrow-width stripes with thin lines between. The tight weave of this fabric creates a versatile cloth with a matt, almost-opaque finish and crisp handle and moderate one-way stretch. Ideal for DIY projects, and making more structured versions of shirts like the Bloom, and summer dresses like the Ivy.
